Spectator Information 2025
Rowing Ireland and Loughros Point Rowing Club are pleased to welcome all crews, officials, and supporters to Narin Beach, Co. Donegal, on Saturday, 20th September 2025. Racing will commence at 9:30am, followed by prize giving at 2:30pm. We look forward to an excellent day of competition in a stunning coastal setting.

Tide times
For Narin/Portnoo beach, the tide times for Friday, September 19th, 2025, are: Low tide at 00:11 (0m), High tide at 06:04 (3.64m), Low tide at 12:18 (0m), and High tide at 18:19 (3.88m).
Saturday, September 20th, 2025, will have a Low tide at 01:11 (0.4m), a High tide at 07:15 (4.08m), a Low tide at 13:17 (0.63m), and a High tide at 19:33 (4.18m).
Training
Thursday, 18 September
The course and boats will be available from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.
Team Managers: If you intend to train on Thursday, please contact the Match Director in advance to arrange times.
Friday, 19 September
Training has been allocated as follows:
12:00pm – 1:00pm: Ireland
1:00pm – 2:00pm: Scotland
2:00pm – 3:00pm: Wales
3:00pm – 4:00pm: England
During these sessions, four C2x and four C1x boats will be available. Please note that all boats will also be used on race day, so we kindly ask that crews take care to avoid any damage during training.
Boats & oars
The supplied boats will be made by Swift. All crews shall use these shared boats allocated by the
organising committee.
The boats will be set to the same parameters:
• Span - 158 cm
• Gates set to max height with round washers, no clips.
• Seats - lowest seats will be in boats.
• Wing riggers to be positioned closest to bows.
• Identical shoes in each boat.
Teams shall bring and use their own oars.
Rules of Racing
The Match will be run under the World Rowing Rules of Racing; Appendices R18 and R19 cover specific rule variations
for Coastal and Beach Sprints competitions. There are limited exceptions/variations to the World Rowing Rules of Racing for this Match and are detailed here.
Teams should specifically note the following rules which were added to the World Rowing Rules of
Racing in 2024:
• Boat handlers: Where there are two or more boat handlers, there must be at least one boat
handler who is a man and one boat handler who is a woman.
• For Mixed events, excluding para events, the runners at the start and the finish must be two different runners with one runner being a man and the other runner being a woman.
